Dig Dig Die Crew Role Planner
Assign jobs before the shovel hits dirt—then use the interactive planner below.
Dig Dig Die supports 1–6 online co-op pirates who leave a cursed flying ship to raid haunted graveyards. Without roles, everyone digs the same coffin, screams on proximity voice chat, and learns that monsters hunt by sound the hard way. This page gives you markdown role sheets plus an interactive planner you can use mid-article while you read.
How to use this page
- Read the role definitions below.
- Use the interactive planner widget to assign names.
- Paste the summary into Discord or Steam chat.
- Run the Noise Checklist once roles are set.
- Sync loot priorities with the Items Tier List and tools with Weapons & Tools.
Interactive planner
Assign seats before you drop. The widget keeps Loot Runner, Distractor, and Support visible so nobody “forgets” they were on lookout duty.
Crew role planner
Assign Loot Runner, Distractor, and Support before you drop into a graveyard.
Role sheets (copy into chat)
Loot Runner
Job: Finish coffin and crypt digs, carry primary haul, call extract. Bring: Reliable shovel, mobility boosters, minimal joke items. Voice: Short status pings only—“digging,” “moving,” “extract.” Links: Loot and Extract, Treasures & Boosters.
Distractor
Job: Pull or delay sound-hunting threats so diggers can finish. Bring: Improvised panic tools, awareness of escape lanes, patience. Voice: Warn before you make intentional noise; never surprise-scream. Links: Beat Monsters, Sound Hunting.
Support
Job: Watch flanks, manage ship prep, keep the squad honest about casino greed. Bring: Quiet utility, crowbar if the Runner is shovel-locked, vending shopping list. Voice: Calm callouts; enforce whisper culture from Voice Stealth. Links: Casino & Vending, Cursed Ship.
Flex notes for odd lobby sizes
- Solo: You are Runner + Support. Print the Noise Survival rules and accept slower clears.
- Duo: Runner + Support; Distractor only if a chase is already happening.
- Trio: One of each role.
- 4–6: Add a second Runner or a second Support before you add a second Distractor. Extra diggers beat extra chaos.
Pre-drop briefing script
Use this script on the ship bar before a graveyard raid:
- “Runner is ___ — they own extract calls.”
- “Distractor is ___ — they own intentional noise.”
- “Support is ___ — they own crowbar/vend decisions.”
- “Curses: ping and drop if it forces noise—see Cursed Items.”
- “UFO: break LOS and regroup—see UFO Events.”
- “Casino happens after extract, not before.”
Linking roles to the map
Graveyard layouts change who should lead. On open plots, Runners fan out while Support holds a quiet center. On crypt-heavy tiles from Graveyards, crowbar Support moves with the Runner. On return to the ship hub, Support leads vending purchases while everyone else parks mics—Locations Hub has the wider tour.
Common failure patterns
- Five Distractors, zero diggers — funny clip, empty pockets.
- Runner with a loud joke weapon — demote that ego loadout via Weapons & Tools.
- Support gambling the team bank at blackjack — reread Casino & Vending.
- No one watching voice levels — open Controls Hub and set expectations before the next drop.
Practice before August 6, 2026
Alice Games has already run public playtest/demo windows that concluded before launch. Use the waiting time to bookmark How to Play, Co-op Strategies, and the Tools Hub. Confirm the calendar on Release Date, watch Trailers for movement tells, and ignore fake role unlock codes on the honest Codes page.
When Dig Dig Die launches, revisit this planner after your first ten raids and adjust role names to whatever slang your friend group invents—just keep the jobs clear.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Dig Dig Die crews on Steam.
What roles should a Dig Dig Die crew use?
Start with Loot Runner, Distractor, and Support. Solo players combine Runner and Support; full six-player lobbies can double Runner or Support before doubling Distractor.
Does the page include an interactive planner?
Yes. The Crew Role Planner widget sits mid-article so you can assign names while you read the role sheets.
Who should carry the crowbar?
Usually Support or a secondary Runner when crypts gate loot. Keep at least one reliable shovel on the primary Loot Runner.
Should the Distractor talk more?
They may make intentional noise in-world, but voice chat should stay disciplined. Warn the crew before pulls; do not scream into proximity chat.
Where do we plan ship casino rules?
Agree in the Support briefing: extract first, then optional blackjack, roulette, or thimbles. Details live on the Casino & Vending page.
